Lydia Evergreen was focused on one thing: her middle school science fair project. But when an apple appeared on her desk-without warning, explanation, or witness-something began to shift. As strange things occur around her-pencils hesitating midair, paperclips defying gravity-Lydia starts to suspect the apple is only the beginning. And her science fair teammates? They're acting strange. When a forgotten story surfaces-one that mirrors her own in eerie detail-Lydia is forced to confront a possibility she never expected: this has happened before. Lydia doesn't know what's happening or why it's happening to her-but one thing is certain: nothing about this project is going according to plan. A quietly unnerving origin story, Apple is a glimpse into the moment a curious girl begins to see the world not for what it is, but for what it could be.
