This book explores the transformative use of nanomaterials in civil engineering, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in addressing enduring challenges. It covers the enhancement of construction materials, including cementitious composites, coatings, and structural components with nanomaterials to improve corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and cement performance. The integration of nanotechnology with Industry 4.0 and digital twins is also discussed, promoting smarter engineering practices. Additionally, it details the applications of nanomaterials in pavement construction and soil property enhancement for seismic resilience. It addresses soil stabilization, slope stability, ground improvement, and scour protection for waterfront infrastructure. Furthermore, it delves into environmental engineering applications such as advanced wastewater treatment, soil remediation, and air quality improvement through nanotechnology. This book features seventeen chapters by leading experts, offering research insights and practical guidance for sustainable infrastructure and environmental solutions.

Autorenporträt
Mohammad Asif Raja is Doctoral Fellow at the Earthquake Engineering Center, National Taiwan University, and Ph.D. Candidate in civil engineering at the same university. He obtained his M.Tech. in earthquake engineering from IIT Roorkee in 2014. With a decade of experience in teaching and research in civil, geotechnical, and earthquake engineering, as well as nanotechnology, Raja focuses on seismic performance of geotechnical structures, investigating scour effects on piles, liquefaction, and nanomaterial applications in sustainable construction and environmental remediation. He is Chartered Engineer (IEI) and Associate Professional Engineer (ECI), with memberships in the ISTE, ISCA, and IEI. Raja has authored numerous publications, presented at international conferences, developed course curricula, and received multiple scholarships and grants, emphasizing his dedication to innovation and sustainability in engineering. Md Daniyal, Assistant Professor in civil engineering at Sandip University, holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering from Aligarh Muslim University. His research emphasizes chemical corrosion inhibitors and nano-admixtures for sustainable engineering practices. With over six years in academia, including as Department Head, Daniyal has significantly contributed to curriculum development and student mentorship. CSIR-UGC JRF Recipient and Chartered Engineer, Daniyal is actively engaged in enhancing civil engineering through workshops, conferences, and collaborative projects, bridging theory with practical application. Behrouz Gordan received the Ph.D. civil engineering degree from the University Technology Malaysia, in 2014. His research interests include numerical and seismic analysis in earth structures such as slope stability, earth dams, retaining walls, flood after landslide, nanomaterials, and data analysis in geotechnical branches. He is Author of over 40 papers published in related journals and international conference proceedings and more than 1500 citations. He has Editorial Member of four international journals. He also serves as Editor in Chief for modern transportation. Mohammad Parwez Akhtar is Associate Professor at Manipal University Jaipur, specializing in water resources engineering with a Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee (2011). He excels in mathematical modeling and C++ coding for computational hydraulics and river flow modeling. His research focuses on water resource modeling, groundwater studies, watershed hydrology, and the impacts of climate change on hydrology and drought prediction. With 15 years of experience in project planning and monitoring in government organizations, Dr. Akhtar has published over 20 papers and book chapters. He also earned a gold medal in his M.Tech at IIT Roorkee.
