The twofold purpose of this book was to analyze therelationship between the method of safety educationand laboratory safety knowledge among biologicalscience students, and to evaluate the safetyconditions in the laboratories of a Biologydepartment. Two hundred seventy four biologystudents participated in the study by completing alaboratory safety knowledge survey developed by theauthor. Formal safety education appeared to play amajor factor in increasing the level of safetyknowledge among participants. In the second part ofthe study, four biology laboratory teachingfacilities were inspected to determine the level ofsafety compliance.
