Als eine fesselnde Lektüre beschreibt Rezensent Max Nyffeler Brian Larges gemeinsam mit Jane Scovell verfasstes Erinnerungsbuch. Nyffelers Besprechung konzentriert sich hauptsächlich auf die entlang der Lektüre entfaltete professionelle Karriere Larges als Videoregisseur, der sich auf die Bebilderung klassischer Musik spezialisierte, privates wie etwa die vom Zweiten Weltkrieg geprägte Kindheit in London kommt nur am Rande vor. Ab 1965 war Lange beim BBC angestellt und hatte unter anderem mit Fernseh-Liveregie zu tun, porträtierte außerdem Figuren wie Strawinsky. Ab 1980 arbeitete er als Selbständiger, hatte Auftraggeber auf der ganzen Welt und immer viel zu tun, fährt die Rekonstruktion fort. Nyffeler erinnert sich mit der Lektüre an einige besonders spektakuläre Musikfilme, für die Large verantwortlich ist und freut sich außerdem über die feinsinnige Art und Weise, in der Large und Scovell amüsante Episoden über diverse Größen der Klassikwelt ausbreiten. Ein tolles Buch ist das für den Rezensenten deshalb, weil es, wo auch immer man mit dem Lesen beginnt, einen sofort in den Bann schlägt, dank einer Mischung aus Expertenwissen und Anschaulichkeit.
