The purpose of this book is to study how the poet Augusto dos Anjos was presented in newspapers and periodicals at the beginning of the 20th century, covering the period from 1908 to 1914. In this context, we analyze how the poet was portrayed by the press before and after the publication of what became his only book, Eu (1912). We came across very divergent opinions about Augusto dos Anjos' poetry and its effects on the public of his time. In addition, we were able to see how Augusto dos Anjos was treated by critics even before he traveled to Rio de Janeiro in 1910 to gain greater visibility on the artistic and literary scene, through the publication of his book Eu in 1912. More than that, it was also possible to see how opinions about Augusto's poetics changed, especially after his death in November 1914, and how critics looked at his writings in order to better understand the unique way in which the poet from Paraíba constructed his poetics.
