Autorenporträt
The author, Michael George Markulis was born in 1931 in Mutual Utah to immigrant Greek parents. In the early 1940's the family moved to San Pedro California where they put down roots. It was in San Pedro where Mike grew up and established himself as a good student and a good athlete. In the early 1950's Mike graduated from San Pedro High School and shortly after was drafted by the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Waiting for Mike was the love of his life, a neighbor girl named Alicia Sanchez. On his return to San Pedro Mike and Alicia married and started their family - in the same neighborhood they both grew up in! It wasn't long for Mike to decide to pursue a career in law enforcement. Encouraged by his young wife to pursue a career in law enforcement. Encouraged by his young wife to pursue this dream, Mike began a 37 year carrer on the Los Angeles Police Department. While on the department Mike also pursued his higher education, obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Police Science and Public Administration. During his career with the LAPD, he also taught Administration of Justice at the Junior College level for 30 years. Upon his retirement from the LAPD, Mike became the Director of the Delinquency Control Institute at the University of Southern California. Throughout his life, Mike has served the community and city in which he has lived and worked by working with many organizations whose purposes are to better the community. Most Important to Mike during his life, even more so than all of his achievements he acquired throughout his professional career is his family. Everything he has done and accomplished in his life has always been with his family's best interest at heart.
