The research presented in this book is directed towards automating the generation and typesetting of Arabic scripts. The main challenge of producing high-quality Arabic scripts is that Arabic calligraphy is an art. In order to automate the generation of rich and beautiful Arabic scripts, the research addressed the required steps to do so, starting from using a very rich Arabic font like AlQalam font and developing a generic context analysis algorithm for it, to suggesting some approaches for developing a generic line-breaking algorithm for rich Arabic fonts.

He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering of Cairo Universty.His research interests include Calligraphy and Lettering Arts, Software Engineering and Programming Languages, CAD Tools and VLSI.
