Azoreductase is a oxidoreductase enzyme with the molecular weight of 60Kd. It is a NADH/NADPH-dependent, oxygen sensitive, soluble cytosolic enzyme responsible for degradation of azo dye Reactive Red BL azo dye. It was produced in Submerged fermentation (SmF) by using locally isolated bacterium Alcaligenes sp. AA09. In present study azo dye was found to be almost completely mineralized and the mineralized product were found to be non-toxic for plants.

Ajay Kumar Pandey lavora attualmente come ricercatore presso il Dipartimento di Biotecnologie del MNNIT, Allahabad, India. Ha conseguito l'M.Tech. in Biotecnologie presso l'Università SRM di Chennai. Ha lavorato come professore assistente presso il NIT, Raipur, Chhattisgarh dal 2010 al 2013. I suoi interessi di ricerca sono la tecnologia degli enzimi, i biocarburanti e la tecnologia dei bioprocessi.
