It was a satirical column he founded called "The Boomerang" in the Laramie Boomerang, a daily published in Wyoming, that gave Nye his first break. Nye, who was well-known for his astute and humorous observations on ordinary life, wrote about a wide range of subjects, such as politics, society, and human nature.
