JoshuaThomassonisapassionatepetlover, visionaryarchitect, and creative storyteller who believes that thoughtful design can transform lives—both human and animal. Raised in the small town of Danville, Virginia, Joshua's early love for design set him on a journey that has taken him around the world, exposing him to diverse cultures and the powerful role of how architecture shapes our communities. As a proud Virginia Tech alum, Joshua carried those formative lessons into a career dedicated to community engagement and innovative design. Serving as a former President of the American Institute of Architects Triangle Chapter, he learned to harness design as a catalyst for positive change through his volunteering and outreach. Today, he is the driving force behind Barkitecture and its flagship event, Triangle Barkitecture, which has raised over $110,000 for local animal rescue groups. By blending his passion for creative design with a lifelong love of pets, Joshua has built a platform that celebrates the imaginative spirit and heartfelt compassion of architects while actively supporting the missions of local animal rescues. This vibrant fusion of art, empathy, and community continues to inspire those who follow his work.
