Some dogs come into our lives by chance. Others arrive because they are meant to. Some dogs come into our lives by chance. Others arrive because they are meant to. In the quiet Scottish town of Kirkintilloch, a woman recovering from life-changing surgery began to lose hope - until a gentle voice surfaced in her mind: "The dog is waiting for you, and you will smile once more with her." Far away on a farm in Dalguise - the very village where Beatrix Potter once spent her childhood summers - a black-and-white Border Collie puppy was born. Her kennel club name was Beinn Fhada, a Scottish mountain. But fate, intuition, and a whisper of magic would soon lead her to a new life, and a new name: Beatrix. This is the heartwarming and mystical true tale of a dog who became far more than a companion. Beatrix walked beside Debra as she healed - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - offering unconditional love, fierce loyalty, and moments of uncanny intuition that felt impossible to explain. Through adventures on Scottish hills, quiet moments of companionship, and mysterious escapades only Beatrix could recall, this remarkable Collie seemed guided by forces beyond the ordinary. Some stories will make you laugh, others will take your breath away, and a few may convince you that dogs truly can visit places - and times - beyond our own understanding. Told through both Debra's memories and Beatrix's wise, witty 'voice, ' this book celebrates: Unbreakable bonds between dogs and humans The healing power of nature and companionship Coincidence, intuition, and the quiet magic that shapes our lives Hope found in fur, gentle paws, and true friendship Settle in and follow the life of a Collie who changed a life, lifted a spirit, and proved that sometimes the most extraordinary journeys begin with a whisper... and a wagging tail.
Autorenporträt
Debra's a Yorkshire lass through and through, whose passion from an early age was to cycle and walk in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. In her late teens, she fell in love with the Lake District, especially the Langdale Valley, and hopes that one day she'll be able to live there. Of course, coming from Halifax and living across the road from the Rowntree Mackintosh factory (now Nestlé), Debra was destined to have a sweet tooth. Cycles and walks always involved chocolate of some sort, a Yorkie Bar, Toffee Crisp, or a couple of Quality Street chocolates, but Debra's also quite partial to Cadbury's Dairy Milk.In the late 1990s, Debra moved from Yorkshire to Scotland. Life continued to include walking, cycling, and chocolate, but in 2005, along came Scotsman Jim, who fell in love with Debra's gentle Yorkshire accent, and they became Mr and Mrs. Debra still lives in Scotland with her husband and their Border Collie, eating chocolate, walking, and cycling, but she continues to take regular trips down to Yorkshire to see her children and grandchildren. Debra still dreams of living in the Lake District.
