Produktbeschreibung
This book isn't just about illustration--although it's full of them. It's also about what it means to be an illustrator. From the practical (where should you work?) to the professional (how do you get commissions, negotiate fees, or understand usage rights?), this book tackles the everyday realities of life as an illustrator. You'll find clear explanations of things like collecting societies and social security for artists, plus down-to-earth advice on setting fair prices and building a sustainable creative routine. It also shares over twenty genuinely helpful tips for aspiring illustrators--like how to overcome the fear of the blank page--and walks you through twenty-five key illustration techniques in a hands-on, inspiring way. Alongside the text, a playful visual thread runs through the book: a collection of bird illustrations by artists using different styles and techniques. The subject stays the same, but the results couldn't be more varied--making it easy to compare, learn, and get inspired. Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, this book is designed to inform, encourage, and spark your creativity.
Autorenporträt
Felix Scheinberger was born on 14 October 1969 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). The entrance exam for the FH für Gestaltung, Hamburg (University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, Germany) would be his ticket to an education. There he studied illustration, which then seamlessly resulted in self-employment. In the past fifteen years, he has illustrated more than fifty books, worked for prestigious newspapers and collected various prizes and awards. He has also taught in Mainz, Hamburg, Münster (Germany) and Jerusalem (Israel). His previous publications have influenced design agencies to rediscover hand-rendered drawing as well as pencil and watercolours. Felix Scheinberger now lives in Berlin and is a professor of illustration at the FH Münster (University of Applied Arts, Münster, Germany).
