Completed a tour of operations as a navigator with 408 (Goose) Squadron, RCAF, in WWII. Did 6 raids to Berlin in first 10 trips. Experienced the Nuremberg raid, March 30/31,1944 when 95 heavy bombers were lost; and saw the invasion fleet on 2 D-Day bombing trips. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Post-WWII, managed family business in general construction. Rejoined the RCAF and transferred to Construction Engineering Branch in 1951. Several appointments later he was Base Technical Services Officer at CFB Toronto, and retired there in 1972. He was National General Manager of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (now Air Force Association of Canada) 1971-1976, and 1976- 1984 was owner of Unique Decor Unlimited. He has travelled extensively worldwide, and is active in several community volunteer organizations.
