James William Gardner is a native Virginian and has spent much of his life in North and South Carolina. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and makes his home in Roanoke, Virginia. His work has appeared in over fifty literary journals and magazines and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Gardner is hailed as a "marvelous voice" in Southern literature by Oxford American.
