Raised in Key West, Florida, Michael Curry heard about Key West and Cuba from his relatives. His grandfathers, both knowing Ernest Hemingway, told stories about the famous writer. Mr. Curry's paternal grandmother was born in Guanabacoa, Cuba, and baptized in the church in Regla. While growing up, she gave him a unique perspective on connections between Cuba and Key West. Mr. Curry's great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents, were, and are, 'Conchs.' On numerous trips to Cuba, he visited Havana, Guanabacoa, Regla and Hemingway's home in San Francisco de Paula.
