Readers will discover how blockchain enhances transparency in water trading, revolutionizes flood risk management, supports sustainable agriculture, and drives innovation in environmental monitoring and policy. Structured across eight thematic parts, the chapters delve into intelligent water systems, consensus mechanisms, disaster resilience, and industrial transformation-offering both theoretical insights and practical case studies. Whether you're a researcher, policymaker, technologist, or sustainability advocate, this volume provides the tools and vision to harness blockchain for a greener, smarter future. Edited by leading scholars and practitioners, Blockchain Technology for Water and Environmental Systems is a timely and essential resource for anyone seeking to understand and apply blockchain in service of global sustainability. With contributions from global thought leaders and case studies spanning continents, Blockchain Technology for Water and Environmental Systems is a vital resource for academics, practitioners, and innovators seeking to harness the power of decentralization for a more resilient and sustainable future.
Saeid Eslamian received his PhD in civil and environmental engineering from University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1998. Saeid was a visiting professor at Princeton University and ETH Zurich in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He has contributed to more than 1,000 publications in journals, conferences and books. Currently, he is a full professor of Resilient Climate and Water Systems and the Director of the Excellence Center in Risk Management and Natural Hazards in Isfahan University of Technology. His scientific interests are floods, droughts, water reuse, climate change adaptation, sustainability and resilience. Prof. Eslamian is now recognized as Extraordinary Professor in Education and Science by the Government of the United States of America. Faezeh Eslamian holds a PhD in bioresource engineering from McGill University, Canada. Her research focuses on the development of a novel lime-based product to mitigate phosphorus loss from agricultural fields. Faezeh completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran, where she evaluated natural and low-cost absorbents for the removal of pollutants such as textile dyes and heavy metals. Furthermore, she has conducted research on worldwide water quality standards and wastewater reuse guidelines. Faezeh is an experienced multidisciplinary researcher with an interest in soil and water quality, environmental remediation, water reuse and drought management.
