Chronic kidney disease in Mexico is mainly caused by factors such as diabetes mellitus and systemic arterial hypertension, although certain pathologies, for example, chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, and the prolonged use of anti-inflammatory drugs, are also considered risk factors within its etiology.In Mexico, the incidence of CKD has increased in an uncontrolled manner, with a prevalence of 1,142 cases per million inhabitants in urban population and an incidence of 377 to 528 cases per million inhabitants, which is considered a catastrophic disease due to the increasing number of cases.Albuminuria and reduced glomerular filtration rate are diagnostic criteria for chronic kidney disease. It is associated with 4% of deaths worldwide, that is, 2.2 million deaths, while in Mexico, CKD mortality was reported at 12.2%, that is, for every 100,000 inhabitants, 51.4 deaths are due to chronic kidney disease.
