McCarthy Barnes Jr. was born and raised in Washington, D.C.. McCarthy served as a law enforcement officer for over a decade, gaining invaluable experience in upholding the law and serving his community. He is also the Founder and Director of the Police Officer Sobriety Support Enbloc (POSSE). McCarthy brings a unique perspective to the organization. As a former police officer and a recovered alcoholic, his journey serves as a driving force behind POSSE. He witnessed firsthand the impact of substance abuse within law enforcement and recognized the need for specialized support tailored for officers struggling with addiction. He made it his mission to provide essential resources to his fellow officers.
