Broken Halo tells the story of a "girl playing grown-up." It is the author's story, one that may not be very different from yours. However, it offers new insights into oneself, highlighting what you're doing well and where you might fall short. More than anything, it provides a path to self-discovery, not through psychoanalytical books, but through straightforward, effective ways of expressing your truth, not just to others but also to yourself. Autorenporträt
My name is Sylvia Ruth Dickey (Smith), and I came into this world one leg first. I often wonder what impact it had on my mother. How did that experience change her? Or did it? Did it change me? For years, up until I gave birth to my first child at 23, I went to bed every night and cried. I had no idea why I cried; I just felt like crying. Then, many years later, I learned of the Lost Twin Syndrome and remembered my mother saying she thought she'd lost me twice while carrying me. I've often wondered if it was my twin she lost, and that's why I cried, missing something and not knowing what until my firstborn arrived, and his arrival took away my need to cry at night.
