I recall one Sunday morning when Thora came to the altar for prayer. There was no mention of what her need was, nor did I ask. After praying a generalised prayer, Thora turned to walk back to her seat when the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask her, 'Do you write books?' Thora's countenance lifted as she said yes. The Holy Spirit encouraged her to start writing again. When the Holy Spirit inspires an author to write as He did with Thora, one finds oneself deeply engaged in the story, making it virtually impossible to put the book down. I truly admire how Thora manages to capture and incorporate the tapestry of various cultures and blend them into a captivating storyline. There are many passages I could highlight from this book; however, the one that captivates me the most is Brutus's lifechanging experience when his eyes looked deeply into the eyes of the crucified Christ. How true today - an experience for many who lift their eyes and look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. A graphic and emotional experience which will grip the heart of every reader. The message of the love of God flows seamlessly throughout this story: His kindness, forgiveness and acceptance patiently waiting for a response, especially from those who feel they deserve it the least. As with Brutus, when a person finally comes to the end of themselves and surrenders to the amazing grace of God, they find the true meaning and fullness of life. The effectiveness of Thora's writing introduced me into the personal life of a seemingly fictional character. After reading the book, I was left with the impression I had known Brutus as a close friend. I'm confident your experience will be the same. It is my prayer that this book be distributed far and wide. We would do well to gift this book to family, children and friends, especially those who have wandered from God or have never known Him.
