You know what's strange about spiritual change? It's how it sates a lifelong craving for connection in a way that you can't truly share. That conflict can leave a bittersweet resonance in the soul - a kind of empty ache. You know what's strange about spiritual change? It's how it sates a lifelong craving for connection in a way that you can't truly share. That conflict can leave a bittersweet resonance in the soul - a kind of empty ache. Everything is filled with new wonder, but you have to accept that nothing is the same, and maybe you're left trying to fit a new life into an old box. There becomes a latent "knowing" shared with only a few. The pull towards serenity becomes stronger and stronger, and the noise of the world blurs away as you regain a visual on some inner version of you - the hopeful child - that becomes irresistible. It becomes harder to return to "normality", but the smile has settled into your being and you know where you belong; and that is enough. You are already here. A collection of poems on capturing the sensation of falling out of sync with the world and becoming fully aware of your own spirit and its truth.
Autorenporträt
Melissa Enslin was born and raised in South Africa, growing up during the most vital period in the country's history so far. Her education took place at Rhodes University, and her career began as a teacher at a South African high school where she truly fell in love with the specificity and simultaneous ambiguity of poetry, despite having written and published poetry from a much younger age. During these years it became clear to her that the only true super power that exists in the world lies in the way one is able to construct language, which is done often with intention and sadly more often without it. Nothing else has quite the same impact on the minds and souls of others. With a body that craves adventure as much as the soul craves resonance, she now lives in Italy with her husband and dogs, doing mostly regular things; all the while longing for nothing else but quiet time amongst the bugs and weed flowers, because she finds the smaller ecosystems the most savagely captivating. If you have ever felt the need to fall through a crack and meet your soul at its origin, or regain a clear visual on your inner child, you will love her poetry.
