Dr. Michelle T. Violanti (PhD, University of Kansas) currently serves as an associate professor in the School of Communication Studies at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she previously served as the basic course director for public speaking and business and professional communication. Dr. Violanti teaches courses in instructional communication, communication theory, research methods, organizational communication, and leadership/followership. She has been certified in online course design, review of courses designed for online instruction, and universal design for learning. Her research, focused on instructional and organizational communication, has appeared in Communication Education, Basic Course Annual, Human Communication Research, Annals of the International Communication Association, and Frontiers in Communication. She is the coauthor of Follow, Communicate, Lead: Creating Competent Connections and Dynamic Public Relations: The 24/7 PR Cycle.
