Winner, GOLD MEDAL, Global Book Awards ¿ Editor's Pick, Publisher's Weekly ¿ Semi-Finalist for the BookLife Prize An inspiring story of love, loss and healing When Tony Stewart and his wife, Lynn, learned that she had incurable cancer, they sat together at their kitchen table-holding hands, cherishing their time, and wondering how to make the most of what remained. Thus began their extraordinary journey, of courage, humor, heartbreak, and unshakable love. Even after Lynn's passing, Tony continued to walk beside her in memory, finding ways to honor his grief while opening his heart to healing. Carrying the Tiger is both a love story and a guide for anyone touched by illness, loss, or grief. As Tony describes his experiences during those years, he also reflects on their meaning: How can one feel tenderness and joy in the midst of shattering grief? What does it mean to live and love with your whole heart, regardless of the outcome? Tender, heartrending, and ultimately hopeful, Carrying the Tiger reminds us that even in the darkest places, light still breaks through. Whether you're a caregiver, someone facing illness, or simply a reader who appreciates emotional storytelling, this memoir leaves a lasting mark. It will move you, comfort you, and stay with you long after the last page. "A beautiful and very human love story which breathes an extraordinary generosity of spirit." - David Newman, author of Talking with Doctors "Captures emotions and experiences that will be familiar to anyone who's stood by a loved one facing a cancer diagnosis. But here, too, are quiet moments of joy and triumph; this is a work that will strengthen all who read it." - Khalid Dar, MD, Oncologist, Mount Sinai Morningside "A remarkable odyssey of learning to 'live fully in the shadow of death.'" - Publishers Weekly (Editor's Pick) "A masterclass in facing life's hardest moments with grace." - IndieReader "Heart-wrenching... beautifully describes the couple's unique relationship" - Kirkus Reviews "Tony Stewart writes with unflinching honesty about love and loss at the deepest level. The book is both devastating and hopeful as we accompany Tony through his wife's diagnosis and illness and his subsequent discovery that joy and grief can live hand in hand." - Jessica Fein, author of Breath Taking: A Memoir of Family, Dreams, and Broken Genes

Tony and his late wife Lynn Kotula, a painter, traveled extensively in India and Southeast Asia, staying in small hotels off the beaten track and eating delicious food with their fingers when cutlery wasn't available.
