Juan José Montijano Ruiz, nacido en Granada en 1977, es un erudito multifacético cuyo inquebrantable compromiso con el mundo del teatro y la literatura española ha dejado una marca indeleble en la comunidad académica. Obtuvo su Doctorado en Filología Hispánica en la Universidad de Granada, donde su pasión por el teatro de humor contemporáneo floreció y lo llevó a convertirse en un auténtico experto en la materia. Además, es Regidor de Escena con honores por la Asociación Española de Enseñanzas Técnico-Profesionales, un reconocimiento que refleja su dedicación excepcional. Montijano también se destaca como profesor de Literatura española en el Aula Permanente de Formación Abierta de la Universidad de Granada, transmitiendo su profundo conocimiento a las nuevas generaciones de estudiantes. Su trabajo incansable ha sido recompensado con el Premio Nacional por su destacada trayectoria como investigador en la promoción del teatro frívolo español, otorgado por AITE y la Confederación Nacional de Teatro Amateur en 2014. La obra maestra de Montijano, su tesis doctoral 'Historia del teatro olvidado: la Revista (1864-2009), ' ha sido un faro en el ámbito académico, siendo la primera de su tipo en España sobre el teatro frívolo español. Ha cosechado elogios de expertos tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Montijano es miembro activo de la Asociación Andaluza de Dramaturgos, Investigadores y Críticos Teatrales, así como de la Asociación Internacional de Teatro Siglo XXI. Su compromiso con las artes escénicas lo llevó a ser académico numerario de la Academia de las Artes Escénicas de España. Con Almuzara, ha dado vida a obras literarias notables, como 'El corpus de Granada' en 2021, 'El teatro chino de Manolita Chen' en el mismo año y 'La cruz de mayo en Granada' en 2023 e Historia de la Revista en el mismo año.
