The topic of trade and investment protection agreements is particularly prominent in the media due to the two representatives TTIP and CETA, which will have an impact on the European and North American economies. The RCEP free trade agreement is a project planned by China and other Asian countries as a counterweight to the TPP in order not to lose ground in free trade matters in view of Western agreements currently in the pipeline. Trade and investment protection agreements are economic instruments that have an effect on the participating regions if they are implemented. Of course, it always depends on the content and nature of the agreement which industries in the affected economies will benefit and in which areas economic growth can be expected. However, there are agreements that could make it easier for Austrian investors to enter markets outside the European free trade union and have a major impact beyond regional markets, such as CETA and TTIP. This topic is highly relevant for anyone actively involved in trade.
