K. E. Karl's first book, Our Man in Mbabane, is a novel based on his years in Swaziland (1977-80) when he was a gunrunner supporting Nelson Mandela's African National Congress. His second book, The Red Door and Other Stories, is a collection of quirky, eclectic stories. His latest novel, Chasing the Bangkok Dragon, a thriller set in DC and Bangkok, will be published in December 2025. His fiction has appeared in the Pennsylvania Literary Journal, Lowestoft Chronicle, the Evening Street Review, and the Gumshoe Review.
