Based on research, expert opinions, and conversations with the rich and famous at THE HIDDEN GARDEN HIDEAWAY. When we accept our age, we become that age . . . it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. However, we can change this negative view and make choices to be younger, leading us to be more healthy, engaging, attractive, charming, interesting, appealing, and magnetic. The Hidden Garden was a Beverly Hills boutique hideaway after cosmetic surgery which I owned and successfully managed. During this time, the guests unintentionally gave me an insight into becoming ageless. My curiosity began when one of my celebrity guests, wrapped in head bandages and eyes tinted purple, went home and cleaned out her closet. Why this very famous celeb do that? When hearing the same story over, and over, and over again-it hit me. They were not just cleaning out closets . . . they were cleaning up their lives. But it's not that simple. There's more. About the time I had this aha moment, a TV interview with Ellen Langer led me to the clinical studies devoted to the connection of aging to your mindset-if you tweak your mindset, you change how you age. This connection between her findings and my guests was the discovery of how mind-changing triggers can lead to empowerment and youthfulness. It was then becoming ageless became my personal journey. How we age is an attitude we choose. If we follow the limits and expectations- stereotypes-with which society has unfairly labeled us, we cut our life short.Yes, we are killing ourselves. At sixty and single, I became more visible, magnetically finding myself drawn to interesting successful men, even talking to strangers. What woman-single or not-does not want to evoke sexual attraction? Do you think he cares how old you are if youhave an engaging personality? Age and aging are not the same thing. We are stuck with our age but not stuck with how we age.

While studying screenwriting at UCLA, Nola designed an upscale Boutique Hotel and started the famous Beverly Hills, THE HIDDEN GARDEN, a hideaway for the rich and famous and some 4,000 guests-a beautiful place to "disappear" after a cosmetic surgery procedure. Women would come from all over the world.Nola found her guests to be a valuable resource, learning and understanding just how a cosmetic procedure could change one's self esteem, create a new outlook on life, and get people to see themselves differently. There were guests going through a tremendous, sensitive time in their lives. Their unbelievable stories gave Nola a look into their private lives. These guests became the background for CHEW SLOWLY Lie About Your Age. Because of its unique clients and the unusual service, The Hidden Garden was featured on Oprah. Her first published non-fiction work, Hollywood Facelift, was very popular at the time, as it was one of the first books to talk openly about the subject. Howard Stern featured her in a radio interview and discussed the book and plastic surgery. The interview, although humorously graphic, hit a good note about self-esteem. Over 5,000 copies of the book were sold that day.Nola Rocco is a graduate of the master's program at Loyola Marymount University.
