This book presents insights from the International Conference on Climate Change Mitigation and Environmental Amelioration through Plants and Other Sustainable Practices. It brings together leading experts, researchers, and policymakers to share innovative solutions for today s pressing climate challenges. Focusing on Pakistan ranked 5th most vulnerable to climate change the volume highlights the urgent impacts of extreme weather, glacier melt, air and water pollution, and biodiversity loss. At the same time, it showcases opportunities for resilience through sustainable practices, plant-based innovations, agroforestry, carbon sequestration, and modern technologies. By combining research, policy, and practice, the book emphasizes the need for collaborative, multi-tier strategies to safeguard natural resources and promote a more sustainable future.

Dr. M. F. Nawaz is working as Director and Associate Professor in the institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi. With his research, he investigates the environmental services of trees, such as but not limited to climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration by integrated land use, phytoremedial potential of trees for reclaiming degraded soils and the impact of mechanized operations in forests. His major achievements in his career include Green Talent Award from Germany in 2012, Research Productivity Award (RPA-PCST) from Pakistan in 2014 and 2015, and Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship Award in 2017. From 2010 to 2024, he has contributed as author or co-author in >100 peer reviewed research publications and several book chapters. He has also presented his studies in more than 50 national or international conferences and seminars. Prof. Dr. S. Gul is serving as Professor in Department of Botany, University of Karachi. She has published > 60 research papers on seaweeds, phytoplankton, mangroves and plant physiology. She is teaching different courses like Phycology, Ecology, Genetics, Mangroves and Biological nitrogen fixation at BS, M. Sc and M.Phil / Ph.D levels. Many M.Sc, M.Phil / Ph.D students connected in research under her supervision. She has completed successfully many research projects which were supported by WWF-Pakistan and University of Karachi etc. Prof. Dr. Z.S. Siddiqui is serving as Professor in Department of Botany, and Director, MAHQ Biological Research Centre, University of Karachi. He has published more than 70 peer reviewed papers and several book chapters. He is also playing editorial role in many international journals. His research focus is on Photosystem II which is a light-driven water-plastoquinone oxidoreductase system commonly found in plants, other cyanobacteria and algae.
