"The book is a dive into the minds of the top players and what has made them and the Indian team tick. I am sure it will make for a fascinating read." --V.V.S. Laxman Coaching Beyond primarily reflects on R.Sridhar's seven-year tenure as fielding coach of the Indian cricket team. Rather than being overly technical, the book is anecdotal, offering insights into the personalities and journeys of some of India's top players. It highlights, for example, how Virat Kohli bounced back from a dismal Test series in England in 2014 to score four centuries in as many matches on his next overseas tour in Australia. The book also traces Rishabh Pant's evolution into a fearless batsman and exceptional wicketkeeper, while exploring the minds of players and support staff to examine India's journey to the number one Test ranking. Behind-the-scenes interactions, combined with then-head coach Ravi Shastri's motivational approach, create a riveting insider account of the rise and continued success of Indian cricket.
Autorenporträt
R. Sridhar, a left-arm spinner who played for Hyderabad in the late 1990s, discovered his passion for coaching while still an active player. Equipped with the necessary knowledge and qualifications, he progressed through the National Cricket Academy to join the senior Indian team, where he served as fielding coach for seven eventful years, from 2014 to 2021. During this time, he formed a key back-room coaching trio alongside head coach Ravi Shastri and assistant coach Bharat Arun. Sridhar is now the co-founder of Coaching Beyond, an institute dedicated to developing not only high-quality players but also skilled coaches. R. Kaushik has been a cricket writer for over three decades. Beginning his career with Newstime in Hyderabad, he went on to work with Deccan Herald and Wisden India in Bengaluru. He is the co-author of V.V.S. Laxman's autobiography, 281 And Beyond, and Gundappa Vishwanath's autobiography, Wrist Assured. Kaushik's association with Sridhar dates back to 1991, giving him a ringside view of Sridhar's tenure with the Indian team.
