As a young girl, with a deep love for her family, Aliandra learned to survive the unthinkable. Whenever the stench of chaos and fear was closing in, she could slip away into the world of her vivid imagination. Only love and joy reigned, casting aside any trace of darkness. But, everyone grows up at some point. As she grew up, she desperately tried to capture her grip on the fantasy world, but access to this refuge started to fade away. Now, she faces the harsh realities of life, unprotected and vulnerable, alongside her little sisters, and their mother. Each page raw and honest, this story is one of survival, the love of family, and the fragility and resilient strength of hope that carries them through to their final freedom. Part 1 of a heartbreaking yet powerful story, the author has left so many broken pieces of her family exposed in the hopes to remind readers that in dark times, there is a path to the light, and with that, courage comes in many colors.
Jen Torres was born in Philadelphia, PA. She spent a portion of her early years between Puerto Rico and Springfield, Massachusetts. She spent the remainder of her youth in Villalba, Puerto Rico, where she finally learned to speak Spanish. Jen is married and has a step-daughter and three sons. It wasn't until a year after her grandmother's passing in 2004 that she discovered her love for writing. The first short story she wrote, is about her grandmother. She is now working on that stories completion. Jen has survived Cancer twice. For this reason, she decided it was time for her story to be known. She is not a victim; she is a survivor. Work and raising a family took up much of her time, and she stopped writing for twenty years. She didn't decide to pick up writing again until her boys were all grown and no longer in need of her. Jen's hobby is crafting with epoxy/uv resin. She is a movie buff; her favorite genres are Romantic comedies, Action, Fantasy and Paranormal movies. Christmas movies are by far her favorite. She loves reading Devotions to start her day. Favorite Romance book is the "Note Book."
