Communication encompasses phenomena that enable the transmission of information between individuals through language or other codes (voice, gestures, gaze, etc.). The science of communication studies these exchanges between sender and receiver through a message, a code, a channel and a context. It draws on linguistics, psychology, sociology and telecommunications.Essential to all activities, communication meets several needs: identity (affirmation of the role and status of actors), territory (protection of personal space and coordination of projects) and networking (thanks to modern technologies that promote exchanges and feedback). In organisations, it enables realistic objectives to be defined, risks and opportunities to be identified, and credible, motivating and transparent messages to be developed. In short, to communicate is to live: it is an essential condition for individual and collective development.
