Introduction: Neonatal abstinence syndrome is defined as the set of clinical manifestations experienced by a newborn whose mother has consumed psychotropic substances such as cocaine, marijuana or opioids. Objectives: This study aims to determine the complications of neonatal abstinence syndrome, establish its severity, identify maternal risk factors and the most frequent medical, neurological and behavioral complications. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive, observational, retrospective and cross-sectional study to determine the complications of neonatal abstinence syndrome in children of mothers who use 'H' admitted to the Hospital General Guasmo Sur (2021 - 2023). Discussion: The aim of this study was to determine the most common complications in neonates with a diagnosis of neonatal abstinence syndrome admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and neonatal intermediate care (NICU), as well as to demonstrate the maternal risk factors and those complications that represent a risk factor for these neonates and their severity using scales.
