Anton Sotirov was born in 1968 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria. He has Master's and Doctor's degrees of Geology and Geo-Ecology from the University of Mining and Geology, Sofia, and Post-Doctoral research in the University of Leoben, Austria. He has more than 100 articles and 10 monographs in the area of ecology, geology, environmental monitoring, etc.
