This book examines the origin and meaning of the concept of intrinsic evil and its use in sexual ethics, in the teaching of the Catholic Church, and in the construction of a systematic approach to theological ethics. It concludes with a suggestion of how the concept might be used in future ethical discourse.

Nenad Polgar is assistant professor at the University of Zagreb and post-doctoral assistant at the University of Vienna. Joseph A. Selling is emeritus professor of theological ethics in the Faculty of Theology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
