È nata ad Adana, in Turchia, nel 1980. Ha conseguito un master presso il Dipartimento di Scienze dell'Educazione Elementare dell'Università Gazi nel 2002. Si è laureata e ha conseguito il dottorato presso il dipartimento di Scienze secondarie e di Educazione matematica della Middle East Technical University nel 2012.
