Als gewandter Literat war Octave Uzanne zugleich Büchersammler, Redakteur und ein französischer Journalist. Nach seinem Studium der Philosophie und der Lateinischen Philologie zog er nach Paris und widmete sich dem Schreiben. Er wirkte an zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen mit, wie beispielsweise La Plume und L'Art et l'idée, während er gleichzeitig an seinen eigenen Werken arbeitete, hauptsächlich Novellen, Buchbesprechungen und kritische Biographien.
