For the in vitro study, our extract showed very high total antioxidant activity, in line with its richness in polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins. Their evaluations have shown that they have significant slimming power. What's more, they are germ-free and non-irritating. In the in vivo study, the inclusion of coffee grounds in the diet led to a reduction in the average body weight of the rats. However, biochemical analyses showed a decrease in blood triglyceride levels accompanied by liver damage, confirmed by a histological study carried out on liver fragments.
