Gloria is the first human to get into the Cosmic Cadets Academy, and she's determined to make a splash. But on her first day, she realizes it might be harder than she was expecting: she goes to class with the headteacher stuck to her shoe (it turns out some aliens are small and squishy); and then learns that no one in the universe except humans eats with their mouth anymore. But never mind, it's time for Gloria's first mission . . . which turns out to be another disappointment. Her partner, Razz, is a cat-like alien who is way too keen on following the rules and their first missions are SO boring--helping aliens with their groceries and fetching space cats from trees! Fed up with following their extremely unglamorous instructions, Gloria goes off on her own mission . . . to find a uni-korn. Little does she know that uni-korns are some of the most dangerous and foul tempered creatures in the universe . . . capable of swallowing galaxies whole. Gloria just might get her wish for adventure . . . if she doesn't accidentally destroy the universe first.
Rochelle Falconer was born in Jamaica but grew up in the UK, the oldest of six kids, raised by her single mom. As a teenager her head was always in a book. She loved to write--and at school the art department was where she felt most at home. Rochelle studied graphic design--and has worked for various design agencies as well as the gaming industry. It wasn't until she took a break to raise a family, that she rediscovered picture books. Combining her early passion for writing and her love of drawing, Rochelle now spends her time creating characters she would love to see represented in books. Ryan Crawford is a South-London born and raised writer, coach, and game designer. When he isn't creating cruel board game mechanics or helping people make big life changes, he's dreaming up sci-fi and fantasy stories that absolutely must pass his children's strict approval process. His lifelong dream is to write enough great books to have his own 'Ryan Crawford' section in the bookstore. And he's also a big fan of obscure anime, brightly colored gym shoes, and napping at any time of day.
