Autorenporträt
Ana María Shua nació en Buenos Aires en 1951. A los dieciséis años publicó sus primeros poemas reunidos en El sol y yo. En 1980 ganó con su novela Soy Paciente el premio de la editorial Losada. Otras novelas son Los amores de Laurita (llevada al cine), El libro de los recuerdos (Beca Guggenheim) y La muerte como efecto secundario (Premio Club de los XIII y Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires en novela). Su última novela es Hija. Seis de sus libros abordan el microrrelato, un género en el que ha obtenido el máximo reconocimiento internacional: La sueñera, Casa de Geishas, Botánica del Caos, Temporada de Fantasmas (reunidos en el volumen Cazadores de Letras) y Fenómenos de circo. Todos los universos posibles reúne su obra hasta ese momento. En 2019 se publicó La guerra en Madrid y en Buenos Aires. También ha escrito varios libros de cuentos. Con Miedo en el sur obtuvo el Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Que tengas una vida interesante reúne sus cuentos completos hasta 2011. Contra el tiempo fue publicado en Madrid con prólogo, selección y entrevista de Samanta Schweblin. En 2022 se publicó Sirena de río, su último libro en el género. Sus libros para chicos, que obtuvieron premios nacionales e internacionales, se leen en toda América Latina y en España. En 2014 recibió el premio Konex de Platino y el Premio Nacional de Literatura. En 2016 recibió en México el Premio Internacional Arreola de Minificción. En 2025 se le otorgó el Doctorado Honoris Causa por la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Parte de su obra ha sido traducida a dieciséis idiomas.
