Nascido em 26/11/1944 em Graz. Ensino básico e secundário. Trabalhou como pasteleiro durante 4 meses. Posteriormente, concluiu uma formação profissional como mecânico. Tem duas filhas e um filho. Trabalhou como funcionário na segurança social. Em 1988, concluiu o curso de Direito com o primeiro exame de diploma. A partir de 2009, iniciou o curso de Filosofia. Licenciatura concluída em 2014, atualmente a fazer mestrado.
