Dr. Venu Govindappa erwarb seinen Master of Science und seinen Doktortitel in angewandter Genetik an der Universität Bangalore in den Jahren 1997 bzw. 2009. Seit 1997 unterrichtet er Genetik am Centre for Applied Genetics, BU. Zu seinen Fachgebieten gehören Zytogenetik und Toxikologie. Er ist ein weltweit anerkannter Zytogenetiker für Blindschleichen.
