Everyone faces challenges throughout life. They say it is important to learn from these hardships. So, I have taken time to reflect on what I took away from various difficulties I have experienced and wrote some poems to share with you. This book goes through a journey of growing up as a girl, womanhood, mental health challenges, and the stigmas surrounding these topics. It shows that strength, joy, pain, and weakness can all co-exist. Life is not linear and neither is my story. I hope you enjoy these little pieces of my story. Dance With Me In The Sunflowers is a poetry book that explores the intersectionality of growing up both as a girl and experiencing mental health challenges. Jaymie was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and moved to Alberta in 2021, returning to Ontario in 2025. She has been writing since she was a little girl, starting with children's stories for her younger siblings, then moving on to short stories, novels, and poetry as she grew older. Her writing focuses on feminism, mental health, and little bit of fantasy. Outside of the writing world she works in the early childhood and youth fields with an Early Childhood Education Diploma, Honours BSc in Early Childhood Studies, and is currently working towards her credentials to work as a Child Life Specialist. In the time she's not writing, working, volunteering, or in school she enjoys listening to her vinyl collection, attending concerts, visiting cafés and bookshops in the mountains with friends, reading, and most of all spending time with her puppy - George!
