Retired Green Party County Commissioner, co-founder of Sheep Mountain Alliance, columnist (Up Bear Creek at MontroseMirror.com), co-director of Talking Gourds Poetry Project, poetry editor of Fungi Magazine, poet- in-residence at Telluride Mushroom Festival, Colorado's Western Slope Poet Laureate (2011-2013). Through hard work, perseverance, an endlessly active mind, and a huge heart, Art has assumed the mantle of Tribal Elder for many tribes throughout the American West. His most recent books are, DANCING ON EDGE: THE MCREDEYE POEMS (Lithic Press, 2019), Looking South to Lone Cone (Western Eye Press, Sedona, 2013), and As If the World Really Mattered (La Alameda Press, Albuquerque, 2007). Art lives at Cloud Acre on Wrights Mesa near Norwood with his two sons, Rio Coyotl and Gregorio Rainbow Oshá.
