Catherine Harrop lives in Sydney, Australia and, unlike many writers, is not a journalist, does not have a Masters in English Literature, nor does she have any media contacts. Despite this, her first published book, Datura, was written subsequent of needing some therapeutic down-time as a nurse in an Intensive Care Unit. 'Intense' such an appropriate adjective due to complex intense treatments for patients, heart-wrenching intense anxiety for relatives and their ever-present need for counselling, and intense physical and mental demands on staff. Often it was so drama, drama, drama she felt the need to create a different kind of drama, this one in the fictional sense. If she did write a book about life as a nurse, it would be titled, 'Can You Stroke My Forehead Until I Fall Asleep' because this has been asked of her. Needless to say, she did indeed stroke that particular patient's forehead, but only for about five minutes. The patient was nearly asleep anyway.Catherine owns a cat (of course she does) but passionately disavows the notion of being labelled 'Mad Cat Lady' because she only has one rescue cat at a time and acknowledges her cat is not a child, despite what its piano teacher says.Catherine hopes you enjoyed Datura and will continue reading the entwined journey of Alex and Yolande in the 18th and 21st centuries in Silver River: Book 2 in the Datura Chronicles, available in 2018.
