Degree of Distraction is a college romance that follows Jade Song, a driven junior who's meticulously mapped out her life until she meets Lucas Delgado, a laid-back freshman with a knack for turning her world upside down. Focused on securing her perfect future through academic success and her job at the Career Center, Jade has little room for distractions. But Lucas, with his easygoing nature and habit of showing up late, coffee in hand instead of a resume, becomes impossible to overlook. What begins as a professional mentorship quickly shifts into something far more personal. As Lucas challenges Jade's well-ordered plans with deep, probing questions about life and identity, her tight grip on control begins to slip. Between late-night conversations, near-misses, and uncomfortable revelations, Jade starts to wonder if her life could use a little more unpredictability and a lot less control. Degree of Distraction is a swoon-worthy, emotional journey about learning to embrace who you really are when everything you thought you knew gets turned on its head and falling for the person who helps you see things in a whole new way.
Chloe Rivers is a young adult author who writes stories about falling in love, making mistakes, and figuring out who you are, usually while trying not to totally mess everything up. Chloe grew up in a small town, where she spent most of her time reading books and daydreaming about her own love stories (usually with a soundtrack of way too many rom-coms). She studied English Literature, mostly because she loved writing about characters who could get away with things she never would. Now, she spends her days writing about the sweet, complicated, and sometimes awkward parts of life, fueled by coffee, music, and the occasional binge-watch of her favorite TV shows. When she's not writing, Chloe can be found looking for the perfect café to write in, hanging out with friends, or getting lost in a good playlist. She's a big fan of sarcastic banter and books with happy endings.
