The objective of this research work is to enhance the transmission distance of vertical cavity surface emitting laser based optical fiber communication schemes at the data rate of 10 Gb/s by controlling the laser chirp. This can be achieved by employing optical filtering schemes, Mach-Zehnder interferometer scheme with optical filter and pre-emphasis scheme with optical filters in the design of the optical systems.
