Sabahattin Ali war ein renommierter türkischer Schriftsteller, Dichter und Journalist des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er wurde am 25. Februar 1907 in Gümülcine, einer Stadt im heutigen Griechenland, geboren. Ali war einer der einflussreichsten Vertreter der modernen türkischen Literatur und erlangte internationale Anerkennung für seine Werke.Sein bekanntestes Werk, "Madonna im Pelzmantel" (1943), erzählt die Liebesgeschichte zwischen einem türkischen Studenten und einer deutschen Künstlerin. Sabahattin Ali gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Schriftsteller des 20.
