Im Dialog zwischen der zeitgenössischen Schweizer Künstlerin Liliane Tomasko (geb. 1967) und meisterlichen Positionen wie von Pierre Bonnard, Kees van Dongen, Eduardo Paolozzi und Frank Auerbach bietet das Buch einen psychologischen Blick in die Kunstgeschichte, bei dem sich die Erforschung des Bewusstseins und der Wahrnehmung im Portrait spiegelt. Nach Ganzheit und Gestalt lenkte Sigmund Freud die Tiefenpsychologie auf die Entdeckung des Unbewussten. 50 Jahre später lieferte Jacques Lacan die Sichtweise für die Portraits Frank Auerbachs als Vertreter der Neuen Figuration. All dem stehen nun Tomaskos Werke mit einer gestisch-performativen Ausdrucksweise gegenüber.
