PD Dr. Frank Uekötter lehrt geisteswissenschaftliche Umweltforschung an der University of Birmingham. Für sein Buch 'Die Wahrheit ist auf dem Feld. Eine Wissensgeschichte der deutschen Landwirtschaft' wurde Frank Uekötter mit dem Forschungspreis des Deutschen Museums für das Jahr 2010 ausgezeichnet.

Perlentaucher-Notiz zur F.A.Z.-Rezension

Das Buch begreift der Rezensent als ökonomische Fortschrittsgeschichte. Dass bei Frank Uekötter zudem Platz ist für Kritik, am Leitbild vom Bauern, an Spezialisierung und Intuitionsverlust, an der Massentierhaltung, möchte Jan Grossarth von einer differenzierten Historikerhabilitation wie dieser erwarten dürfen. Enttäuscht wird er offenbar nicht. Uekötter spickt seine Wissensgeschichte der Landwirtschaft mit allerhand Details und Quellen und beschreibt 200 Jahre Agrargeschichte als Tanz zwischen Wissen und Praxis und als Kapitulation vor der Übermacht der Industrialisierung (an der wir buchstäblich noch heute kauen).
