This book was conducted to investigate the incorporating divergent assessment into uplifting EFL learner's self-esteem and speaking ability. The participants of the present study were 108 Iranian EFL learners studying English at IRAN-CANADA Language Institute. The participant's ages ranged from 18-26. They were homogenized based on their level of proficiency using a PET. In this regards 60 learners were selected. Then they were divided into two groups. In experimental group learners' improvement were assessed through divergent assessment and in control group through traditional methods of assessment. Then independent sample t-test was run to evaluate and analyze the obtained data. The result of analysis confirmed the effect of divergent assessment on improving learners' self-esteem and speaking skill. The findings bear some insights for language teachers and those who are going to conduct a research on assessment, self-esteem and speaking skill.
